Clubs and Activities
Multiple clubs and organizations are available for students in grades 7-8 at Waynesville Middle School. Availability depends upon student interest and faculty availability.
Hope Squad
This is a peer-to-peer suicide prevention program, where students are trained to provide support, empathy, and resources to their peers struggling with mental health challenges.
JS2S
JS2S is designed to ease the transition of military-connected and new students into new schools by pairing them with students who understand the unique challenges they face.
Leader In Me
Leader In Me cultivates a positive school culture equipping students with essential life skills for personal and academic success by integrating leadership principals into school.
NJHS
The National Junior Honor Society at Waynesville Middle School that honors students who represent good citizenship, service, leadership, scholarship and character.
Student Council
Student council serves as a representative body of peers to voice student opinions, organize events, and enact positive change within the school community.
WMS Band
Waynesville Middle School offers a variety of band and ensemble courses throughout the school year.
Spotlight
Mr. Thorpe is an outstanding teacher. He is young and gets the students attention. He makes it exciting to learn ELA. The students are engaged and ready to learn. It is always refreshing to step in his class and see the students being respectful and participating.
Mrs. Lemmons consistently goes above and beyond to foster an environment of growth and positivity. Her commitment to supporting students and staff in creating a fun, learning environment is shown through her daily positive communication and dedication to helping others.
We are so fortunate to have Mr. Ellis as a new teacher in our building. He cares about students' success and learning. He checks in multiple times per hour to make sure students are understanding, and he is reflective on his practices, constantly working to improve.
Coach Foote's enormous, positive attitude, and teamwork demeanor illuminates throughout the WMS building. She is not only a volleyball and track and field coach, she is the first to help other coaches with their sport in her spare time.
Mr. Glenn has "gone above and beyond" to maintain and keep the excellence of functionality, safety, and cleanliness of the WMS campus. In addition to maintaining the campus, Mr. Glen also mentors, trains, and supports new custodians to our team.
Mr. Sickler is a great asset to the middle school. He not only works as a para, but has been instrumental in taking our Leader in Me to the next level. He does a great job in our Java Jr. working with students and giving them areas to shine during the school day.
Melanie is such a legendary human. She is truly a hero! She is constantly making connections with our students and players and checking in on them. She helps new staff members feel welcome and is a wealth of knowledge on many different aspects of school procedures.
