Waynesville R-VI elementary students who are eligible to participate in Special Olympics were invited to participate in a Kids Fishing Day at Maramec Spring State Park on Oct. 4, 2024. Students toured the museum and the fish hatchery and learned about fishing safety from Missouri Department of Conservation agents. Students also had the opportunity to fish at the springs. #wayschools

The following plans are in place as of Thursday morning: PARADE As of this time, the Homecoming Parade will be held rain or shine at 2:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 27, 2024. In the event of severe weather, the parade will be cancelled. Should it become necessary, any announcement regarding last-minute plans for the parade will be made on the Waynesville R-VI Facebook page. The parade begins at Waynesville City Park and ends at Waynesville Middle School. CHAMBER TIGER PRIDE NIGHT The Waynesville-St. Robert Chamber of Commerce’s Tiger Pride Night will be held from 4:30 to 6 p.m. INSIDE the Waynesville High School Gym. CORONATION AND GAME Coronation will be at 6:25 p.m. on the field at Tiger Stadium, followed by the game at 7 p.m.

The VOICES honor choir is made up of 4th, 5th and 6th grade students in the Waynesville R-VI School District. Students auditioned for the choir and 70 were selected by music teachers. They are rehearsing for their upcoming performance during Showcase Waynesville Schools at 6 p.m. Sept. 26, 2024, at the Waynesville High School Auditorium.

Law enforcement officials across the nation have been investigating social media threats about alleged school shootings, which appear to be linked with Sept. 11. Like others across the nation, our local law enforcement has investigated an alleged threat on social media (Snap Chat) that was being made toward “Pulaski County middle schools.” Local law enforcement officials have reported that currently there is no credible threat to the schools in the Waynesville R-VI School District. Working with national law enforcement agencies, local investigators believe that the threat was made in reference to a Pulaski County School District in another state. All threats are taken seriously, however, and the safety of our students and staff is our first priority. Out of an abundance of caution, school resource officers and local enforcement will have an increased presence at the Waynesville Sixth Grade Center and Waynesville Middle School. Freedom Elementary hosted their annual Patriot Day parade this morning. Students watched as local first responders, the Waynesville High School Drumline and military members paraded through the parking lot. Following the parade students were encouraged to explore first responder vehicles and give high-fives to our local military heroes. #wayschools

The Armed Services YMCA hosted a Patriot Day Art Contest for Waynesville R-VI students with many works of art being on display during the Patriot Day event at the Waynesville City Park on Saturday, Sept. 7, 2024. The following students were awarded with first place ribbons; Carter Smith, 5th grade John Schultz, 12th grade Isabella Johnston, 3rd grade Kendra Franks, 10th grade Max Tayler Joyce, 7th grade Caleb Bradford, 2nd grade Coralline Sanchez, 5th grade Naomi Gonzalez, 7th grade Theo Leinbaugh, 4th grade Drake Volkmer, 3rd grade Lily Whitten, 2nd grade Esther Oppong, 5th grade First place award recipients were awarded a $10 Walmart gift card donated by Walmart St. Robert. #wayschools

The Fall Tiger Festival of Nations will be held from 5 to 6 p.m. Friday, Spet. 13, 2024, inside the Ninth Grade Center, which is located on the stadium side of the Waynesville High School campus. Admission is free and open to the public. Guest will learn about different cultures and sample food from around the world!

Waynesville’s Homecoming is Sept. 27 Waynesville R-VI’s Homecoming will be held on Friday, Sept. 27, 2024. Schools will let out early, with students in K-5 being dismissed at 1 p.m. and students in grades 6-12 being dismissed at noon. Parker Educational Center students will dismiss at 12:45 p.m. There will be no afternoon session at Williams Early Childhood Center. The Homecoming Parade will start at 2:30 p.m. The route begins on Benton Street on the square, turns onto Historic Route 66 and continues to Waynesville Middle School. Following the parade, the Waynesville-St. Robert Chamber of Commerce hosts the annual Community Pride Night, featuring a free hot dog roast and celebration. There will be giveaways from area businesses and organizations in front of the Waynesville High School gym. Homecoming Court Coronation will be at 6:25 p.m. inside Tiger Stadium. The Waynesville Tiger football team will play Ozark at 7 p.m. Admission to Tiger Stadium is $4 per person for school age and up without a pass.

Bus Route 48 was delayed Bus route 48 was delayed as it was involved in a minor accident at approximately 7:45 a.m. today (Friday, Aug. 23, 2024) on Hyatt Lane just off Highway Y when a vehicle struck the bus at a low speed. Another bus picked up the Freedom Elementary students. Out of an abundance of caution, the school nurse checked the students once they arrived. #wayschools

Late-start Wednesdays All schools start 30 minutes later on Wednesdays than the other days of the week in the Waynesville R-VI School District. Buses also run 30 minutes later on Wednesday mornings only. For example, if your child normally gets on the bus at 7:20 a.m. and their school begins at 8:30 a.m., then on Wednesdays the bus will arrive at 7:50 a.m. and school will begin at 9 a.m. Dismissal times do not change on Wednesdays. Waynesville teachers embrace the Professional Learning Community model and classes begin 30 minutes late each Wednesday to allow teachers to collaborate on best practices. ______________________________ Details by grade and/or school - Grades 6-12 begin at 7:30 a.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Dismissal is at 3:30 p.m. on all regular school days. - Williams Early Childhood Center begins at 8:15 for the a.m. session on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, and dismisses at 11:15 for the a.m. session. On Wednesdays, the a.m. session begins at 9 a.m. and doors open at 8:55 a.m. The WECC begins at 12:15 for the p.m. session and dismisses at 3:15 for the p.m. session. - Parker Educational Center begins at 8:15 a.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays and dismisses at 3:05 p.m. On Wednesdays, Parker begins at 8:45 a.m. and doors open at 8:35 a.m. Dismissal time does not change on Wednesdays.

Niki Dailey, a teacher at Freedom Elementary, and Candice Sullivan, an instructional coach, were recognized during the Waynesville R-VI Board of Education meeting on Aug. 19, 2024. We look forward to the first day of school tomorrow, Aug. 19! Please note that on the first few days of school, Waynesville R-VI buses will run late in the afternoon, especially buses departing from East and Freedom. Updates on the status of our bus routes will be made to the District's Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/WayTigers) in the afternoon on the first three days of school to help keep parents informed. A staff member will remain at the Transportation Office until all regular route students have been dropped off. The phone number for Transportation is 573-842-2199.

Waynesville R-VI will not be using Traversa Ride360 for our transportation app this year, so you may wish to remove it. We are excited about the features our new app will offer; however, it is not yet ready to be implemented. We anticipate that it will be ready in late September!
