
WIN ("What I Need") is an Army CYS funded program. Army Youth Program in Your Neighborhood (AYPYN) funds secondary after school programs and activities.The WHS WIN program is a safe, fun, and academically engaging environment for students to spend their time after school is dismissed in the afternoons. Located in Waynesville High School, 9th-12th grade students can participate in a variety of clubs and activities. WIN will start on Monday, Aug. 26, 2024, and runs Monday-Thursday from 2:45-5:30 p.m. There is no registration fee for the program. Students do need to have an enrollment form on file.

Bus Route 48 was delayed
Bus route 48 was delayed as it was involved in a minor accident at approximately 7:45 a.m. today (Friday, Aug. 23, 2024) on Hyatt Lane just off Highway Y when a vehicle struck the bus at a low speed. Another bus picked up the Freedom Elementary students. Out of an abundance of caution, the school nurse checked the students once they arrived. #wayschools

Late-start Wednesdays
All schools start 30 minutes later on Wednesdays than the other days of the week in the Waynesville R-VI School District.
Buses also run 30 minutes later on Wednesday mornings only.
For example, if your child normally gets on the bus at 7:20 a.m. and their school begins at 8:30 a.m., then on Wednesdays the bus will arrive at 7:50 a.m. and school will begin at 9 a.m.
Dismissal times do not change on Wednesdays.
Waynesville teachers embrace the Professional Learning Community model and classes begin 30 minutes late each Wednesday to allow teachers to collaborate on best practices.

- Grades 6-12 begin at 7:30 a.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Grades 6-12 begin at 8 a.m. on Wednesdays. Dismissal is at 2:35 p.m. on all regular school days.
- Grades K-5 begin at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Grades K-5 begin at 9 a.m. on Wednesdays. Dismissal is at 3:30 p.m. on all regular school days.
- Williams Early Childhood Center begins at 8:15 for the a.m. session on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, and dismisses at 11:15 for the a.m. session. On Wednesdays, the a.m. session begins at 9 a.m. and doors open at 8:55 a.m. The WECC begins at 12:15 for the p.m. session and dismisses at 3:15 for the p.m. session.
- Parker Educational Center begins at 8:15 a.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays and dismisses at 3:05 p.m. On Wednesdays, Parker begins at 8:45 a.m. and doors open at 8:35 a.m.
Dismissal times do not change on Wednesdays.

Waynesville High School will host its annual Meet the Tiger for fall sports and activities beginning at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2024, at Tiger Stadium. Participating in the event will be the Waynesville Tiger Pride Marching Band and JROTC Color Guard. Recognition will include boys soccer, softball, volleyball, girls tennis, boys and girls cross country, girls golf, dance, Raiders, boys swimming, cheerleaders and football. #wayschools

Please note that on the first few days of school, Waynesville R-VI buses will run late in the afternoon, especially buses departing from East and Freedom.
Updates on the status of our bus routes will be made to the District's Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/WayTigers) in the afternoon on the first three days of school to help keep parents informed.

Freshmen/9th grade: Main (big) Gym
Sophomores/10th grade: Small Gym
Juniors/11th grade: Library
Seniors/12th grade: Lecture Hall
Students may also see their schedules in PowerSchool.

Changes or missing classes
After 7:30 a.m., any student who needs a change or is missing a class period should go to the Lecture Hall DURING the class that is missing/wants changed.
Changes will only be made for the following reasons:
-The schedule is missing a required course
-The schedule is missing a recommended course
-The schedule is reflecting an incorrect placement
-The schedule has a repeat course that can only be taken once

Waynesville R-VI will not be using Traversa Ride360 for our transportation app this year, so you may wish to remove it. We are excited about the features our new app will offer; however, it is not yet ready to be implemented. We anticipate that it will be ready in late September!


Waynesville R-VI Superintendent Hilary Bales introduced Dr. Karla Eslinger, the commissioner of the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, at the 2024 Sustainable Ozarks Partnership Annual Meeting at the Ark Community and Sports Center in Waynesville, Mo. Eslinger has more than 30 years of experience in education as an elementary school teacher, building principal and superintendent. She also represented District 33 in the Missouri Senate from 2021-2024. Prior to that, she represented District 155 in the Missouri House of Representatives from 2019-2020.
During the annual SOP meeting, participants learned about community partnerships with Fort Leonard Wood and how the area’s regional strategies are strengthening the installation and the region. Organizational accomplishments from the past year were outlined, along with objectives for the coming year. #wayschools
