Students who are members of the “Painting your Passion” LEAD group at the Waynesville Sixth Grade Center will have new options this fall, thanks to a donation of 72 cases of transfers from Dixie Belle Paints and Cheryl Keaton of Eccentric Originals in Waynesville. The items were donated to Kim Ramirez, WSGC teacher and the sponsor of the painting LEAD group. The mission of ‘Painting your Passion’ LEAD group is to enhance the physical culture of the building. The group will be placing positive messages in the restrooms, creating murals in the hallways and putting displays on windows. Eclectic Originals, a retailer of Dixie Belle Paint Company and DIY products, said the transfers will be used to support arts education at the center. "We're excited to partner with the Sixth Grade Center to provide students with access to high-quality art supplies and creative opportunities," said Keeton, owner of Eclectic Originals. "By supporting arts education, we hope to inspire the next generation of artists and creators in our community. The donation was made possible through the generosity of Dixie Belle Paint, our valued supplier of innovative DIY materials and products. We're proud to represent Dixie Belle Paint products in our store and grateful for their support in making this donation possible to our local community." #wayschools

On Monday, July 29, 2024, Deputy J. Mendez and Jon Rigsby were officially commissioned by the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department, and are now officially School Resource Officers (SROs) for the Waynesville R-VI School District. Rigsby will serve at Waynesville High School. Mendez will serve as the new SRO at Waynesville Sixth Grade Center – a position that was made possible by local taxpayers approving Prop 2 in April 2024. Waynesville R-VI's "Tiger Duck" took 2nd place in the Armed Services YMCA 34th Annual Duck Race on Saturday, July 27, 2024. "Coached" by Superintendent Hilary Bales, Tiger Duck sped down the Roubidoux sporting its orange and black colors that were painted on by Waynesville students. A special shout out to Waynesville student AJ for helping judge the ducks this year.

Vaccines for 8th and 12 graders BEFORE school begins To start the 2024-25 school year, Missouri law requires all incoming 8th grade students to have two vaccines administered and incoming 12th grade students to have one vaccine, unless they are exempted. 1. Required vaccines that must be completed BEFORE a student enters 8th grade: - Tdap—protects kids from tetanus, diptheria, and pertussis— needs to be given between ages 11 and 12, and then every 10 years. The brand name for this vaccine is Adacel or Boostrix. - Meningococcal –protects kids from Meningococcal groups A, C, W, Y—needs to be given between ages 11 and 12, and again at 16 years. This vaccine is also given in middle school and before the senior year of high school. The brand name for this vaccine is Menactra or Menveo. __________________________________ 2. Required vaccine that must be completed BEFORE a student’s senior (12th grade) year: - Meningococcal –protects kids from Meningococcal groups A, C, W, Y—needs to be given between ages 11 and 12, and again at 16 years. Kindergarten registration remains open Parents who haven't already done so may still enroll their kindergartner in the Waynesville R-VI School District at https://www.waynesville.k12.mo.us/o/wrv/page/enrollment-registration. (This is for students who have not already been enrolled as kindergartners. Parents who have already enrolled their kindergartner or whose child attended Parker or Williams may ignore this message.) Dr. Jamie Goforth, assistant superintendent of personnel services, presented the Community Recognition Plaque to Jeffrey Barrett from the MWR Business and Recreation Division during the July 15, 2024, Waynesville R-VI Board of Education meeting. Barrett was recognized for partnering with the district to utilize their facilities on Fort Leonard Wood, along with the Business and Recreation Division’s exceptional service, including providing food, venues and staff. July screenings for preschool children ages 3 and 4 who live in the Waynesville R-VI School District are now being scheduled for Williams Early Childhood Center, 12225 Pulaski Avenue, Fort Leonard Wood. To schedule a screening appointment for July 29, 30 and 31 please call 573-842-2650. Williams Early Childhood Center’s preschool program consists of PACE and ECSE. Both are free for Waynesville R-VI residents who are admitted to the program. A student may be selected to attend either a morning (AM) or afternoon (PM) session. PACE is the Parent And Child Education program and is for children ages 3, 4 and 5 who are potty-trained, have gone through the screening process and have been admitted to the program. The program is free; however, transportation is not provided for the PACE program. ECSE The Early Childhood Special Education Program serves children ages 3, 4 and 5 with educationally disabling conditions. ECSE is free and transportation is provided for children who are screened and admitted to the program. Children with disabling conditions are those who demonstrate significant delays in one or more of these areas: vision/hearing speech/language intellectual functioning overall development rate of learning and/or social/emotional development
