Waynesville R-VI counselors have received certificates for completing online Compact 101 Training through the Military Interstate Children’s Compact Commission (MIC3). Counselors assist in the transition of new students into the district and the Compact 101 training helps them to best serve military families.
Compact 101 training begins with a brief history of how the compact began followed by an overview of the legal requirements applicable to public and DoDEA schools educating military-connected children. MIC3 provides training on the Interstate Compact on Educational Opportunity for Military Children, which helps address some of the educational challenges transitioning children of military families encounter. The key issues for military families include eligibility, enrollment, placement and graduation.
All Waynesville R-VI school counselors took the training in October on the Professional Development Day.
This month’s #TeacherProudTuesday shout-out goes to Jerred Webb, a teacher at Waynesville High School. His nominator wrote, “Mr. Webb is very passionate about math and his students learning. Anytime a student needs assistance or extra help, he is always readily available, and never complains. Students will never be made to feel incompetent for needing help, but instead he will show students one-on-one, step by step until they get it, and never get frustrated or complain. You definitely always go above and beyond and are appreciated!”

Wood Elementary students presented their holiday choir showcase on Thursday, Dec. 5, 2024. Their next showcase will be at 5 p.m. tomorrow, Dec. 10, 2024 at Wood Elementary.
The VOICES elementary honor choir performed its winter concert on Dec. 4, 2024, at Freedom Elementary. Waynesville R-VI elementary students in grades 4, 5 and 6 must audition and be selected for the VOICES choir.
Students in this choir dedicate their Wednesday afternoons to learning challenging repertoire and practice a variety of skills, including performance, public speaking, and instrumental performance.
The VOICES choir is under the direction of Vaness Mason. Assistant directors are Keisha Jarrett, Hannah Macarthy, Laura Taylor, Beth Gibson and Amanda JG. The accompanist is Terri Heby. #wayschools

The Freedom Elementary Tiger Choir held its winter holiday concert on Dec. 4, 2024, at Freedom Elementary. Keisha Jarrett, is the director of the Freedom Tiger Choir and is assisted by Courtney Pearson.
Terri Heiby served as the accompanist for the winter concert. Freedom Tiger Choir is open to all 3rd-5th grade students at Freedom and no audition is necessary. Freedom Tiger Choir practices on Tuesday and Thursday mornings at 7:30 a.m. #wayschools

The district also offers a Senior Citizen pass for seniors age 60 and up who reside in the Waynesville R-VI school district. The pass admits a senior citizen for free to all regularly scheduled home athletic events. Those with existing senior citizen passes do not need to acquire a new pass. The old pass will continue to be honored. For those qualifying, senior passes are available at the Waynesville R-VI Administration Building at 200 Fleetwood Drive or the WHS Athletic Office.
Please note that season, annual and senior passes do not include admission to district or post-district athletic events, such as the Route 66 Shootout, or fund-raising events. They also do not include admission to events operated by outside organizations on a school’s campus.

Waynesville Sixth Grade Center Hope Squad members and facilitators rang the bell for the Salvation Army from 4 to 7 p.m. on Dec. 3, 2024, at Walmart in St. Robert. The 13 Hope Squad members and three facilitators enjoyed making a difference in the community. #wayschools
To better serve our community and streamline requests for student involvement, Waynesville R-VI is launching a new process for community organizations to request student participation in their service projects or performances by our talented student groups.
Community organizations interested in partnering with our students may now submit a request online at https://forms.gle/heLtHMXzErCjo6LF7. This form may be used to request student groups, such as JROTC, musical groups, cheerleaders, the dance team, and for service projects. It also may be used to request artwork for an event.

The Armed Services YMCA on Fort Leonard Wood donated hats and gloves to the Waynesville R-VI preschool programs at Williams Early Childhood Center and Parker Educational Center. For their "Share the Warmth Campaign," the Armed Services YMCA set up drop boxes throughout the community. #wayschools

WHS choir to perform at Capitol on Wednesday
The Waynesville High School Choir will perform on Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2024, during the 4th Annual Capitol Choir Performance at the Capitol in Jefferson City, Mo.
The WHS choir, under the direction of Cydnee Gilmore, will be among 15 choirs participating in the event. The performances will be live streamed at https://vimeo.com/event/4765028.
The event is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. with each school going in the order listed below. Waynesville High School is estimated to perform at approximately 10:30 a.m.

Throughout the day, Arnold will teach personal finance, marketing 1 and 2, and business management.
