School Counseling

School counseling services are available to all students and is an integral part of each school's total educational program.

The Waynesville R-VI School District uses the Missouri Comprehensive Guidance Program, which is a developmental program that includes activities organized and implemented by school counselors. The program addresses the needs of all students by helping them acquire competencies in career planning and exploration, knowledge of self and others, and educational and vocational development. Additionally, the program is delivered through the following four components:

  1. Guidance curriculum (classroom presentations)

  2. Individualized educational and occupational planning

  3. Responsive services (individual counseling and referrals)

  4. System support (professional development, community relations, consultation, committee work and research)
