STUDENT ARRIVAL AND DISMISSAL PROCEDURES

School doors open at 8:00 a.m. (Wednesday- 8:45 am), breakfast will be served from 8:00-8:20 am (8:45-9:00 am on Wednesdays), and classes will begin at 8:30 a.m. (Wednesday- 9:00 am).  Walkers and bus riders will enter the building through the front entrance by the office.  Parents must drop students off in the circle drive located in the rear of the building after 8:00 a.m. (Wednesday- 8:45 am) and students should cross the playground, entering the building through the doors near the library.  Parking is not allowed in the circle drive and traffic access to the front of the building is not allowed from 7:45 a.m. to 8:35 a.m. (except school personnel and school district vehicles).  Parents who wish to accompany their children into the building must park in the parent / visitor parking lot located next to the circle drive in the rear of the building and enter through the doors near the library.  Parents are to exit the building when school is scheduled to begin unless prior arrangements have been made in the office.

Students will be dismissed at the end of the school day as follows:

3:30 pm - Dismissal of students being picked up by parents.  Parents should park in the parent / visitor lot or use the circle drive adjacent to the playground for pick-up.  Parking is not allowed in the circle drive as it will be used for "drive through" student pick-up. Vehicle access to the front of the building is not permitted from 3:20 pm to 3:45 pm (except school personnel and school district vehicles).  Students will exit the building through the door near the library and will be dismissed through the first 2 access gates on the playground by the parent pick-up supervisor.  To help expedite the student drop-off/pick-up procedures, please pull your car up to the farthest drop-off/pick-up point (by the orange cones) so as many cars as possible can load/unload at one time.

3:32 - Dismissal of walkers.  Students will exit through the front hallway exits (K-2 north door, 3rd, 4th& 5th south door) and use the sidewalk in front of the building to reach the crosswalk/paths.

3:33 - Bus rider will be escorted to their bus by their teacher, exiting the school through the front doors and going directly to the bus.

If there is a change in a student's normal mode of transportation, please notify the school office as early as possible, but no later than 3:15 p.m., so the teacher and student can be notified of the change.

**Daily dismissal is a busy time for the staff and students at Thayer.  We want every one of our students to make it home safely each afternoon.  Please use extra caution when you are driving near Thayer at this time of day.
