Back to School Letter
Dear Families,
Welcome to 8 grade! I am excited about the opportunity to get to know you and I'm looking forward to a fun and productive school year.
Curriculum areas we will focus on this year include READ 180 and Language Arts.
At the moment, students are asked to bring the following supplies to class each day: a notebook or notebook paper, a folder, and pencils. Students are asked to complete their work in pencil, as all grading will be done in pen.
My homework policy is that no homework will be sent home unless it is not completed in class. Plenty of class time is allocated to complete all work, so I do not expect your child to take home much work.
An upcoming school event you should be aware of include Parent-Teacher Conferences scheduled for October 28, 2011. You will have an opportunity to meet me and discuss this year's plans and expectations and your child's successes.
Please mark that date on your calendar. Studies show that parental involvement in a child's education is one of the strongest indicators of student achievement. I hope you will make it a priority this year to attend as many school sponsored events as possible.
If you have any questions or concerns or if you would like to visit our classroom, schedule a conference, or volunteer to help out, you can contact me at school by phone at 774-6198, or by email at jbrown@waynesville.k12.mo.us. A good time to reach me is during my planning period each day which is 7th hour from 1:44-2:30.
Once again, welcome to 8th grade! I truly look forward to working with you and your child this year. Let's work together to make this a successful school year.
All the best,
Jennifer Brown
