Welcome to Ms. Jackson's Life Science classes. I will be teaching life science 1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 7th hours. Science has many branches, such as physical science, earth science, and life science. Life science is the study of living things -plants and animals. It helps to explain how living things relate to one another and to their surroundings. This year we will be learning about the following topics:
1. Living things
2. Cell processes and energy (photosynthesis, respiration, cell division)
3. Genetics (DNA, heredity, Mendel's Work, genetic disorders)
4. Darwin's Theory
5. Viruses, Bacteria, Protists, and Fungi
6. Plants
7. Mollusks, Arthropods, and Echinoderms
8. Fish, Amphibians, and Reptiles
9. Birds and Mammals
10. Animal behavior
11. Populations and Communities
12. Ecosystems and Biomes
13. Living Resources
In my Science Exploratory class which is 6th hour we will be completing daily science activities that focus on the essential skills they need for school achievement and for success on proficiency. These activities reinforce skills in life, Earth, physical science, and scientific method. All work will be completed in class and after each chapter a test will be given that will result in their grade.
