ASSIGNMENTS ARE TO BE TURNED IN ON TIME. Work should be turned into the correct folder at the beginning of class. If an assignment is not turned in, the student is to turn in a “ZAP Slip” explaining why the assignment was not completed. Students will also maintain an Assignment Folder, in which they track their progress and file returned graded work. This folder will be kept in the classroom.
When absent, a student has 2 days for each day of school missed to turn in missed assignments. It is the student’s responsibility to check the missed day’s folder to get missed work.

Current Events: Students are required to complete an estimated 2 Current Events per quarter. They may read any science article that is current- published less than 2 months ago. They then write a 5-sentence summary and give the source of the article.

Correct and Return policy: Students have the opportunity to correct any score falling below 69%. They will be given the averaged grade of the two assignments. Corrections should be made within a week from receiving the graded paper back.

Bonus Points:  Opportunities will be given throughout the year to earn bonus points to all students. Bonus points are also given when test study guides are signed. Extra credit assignments are not given individually.

Cheating: If a student is caught copying an assignment from another student, this will result in a zero (0) on the assignment for both students involved. Anyone talking or cheating during a test or quiz will also receive a zero (0) on that test.

Grading Scale: Is the same as district’s policy. See page 13 of Student Handbook.

Progress Reports: Are sent out every 3 weeks. They are to be returned with a parent signature.

PowerSchool: Parents are encouraged to check the student’s progress weekly using PowerSchool. Codes: X- Assignment turned in, but not yet graded; AB-Student was absent when assigned or turned in; ZAP- Assignment was not handed in; CHT- Cheating; EX- Excused; MOD- Modification; LP- LEAP; LT- Late
