Welcome to Mrs. Moyers's 7th Grade LA Class

wmoyers@waynesville.k12.mo.us

Welcome to Mrs. Wannetta Moyers 7th Grade Language Arts class. I would like to share a little information about myself and 7th Grade Language Arts. I have taught at the elementary level as well as the middle school level. I have taught all subjects in elementary, 7th grade Language Arts, 7th grade History, 7th grade Academic Skills, and 7th grade Speech and Drama. I have a Bachelor's degree in education and a Master's degree in Middle School. I live outside of the district with my husband and daughter. We have a farm and raise registered miniature donkeys!

Seventh Grade Language Arts is a course emphasizing all aspects of literacy including reading and writing. For reading we will be using the Reading Counts program, which includes SRI testing. We will also read a variety of genres, do reading book clubs, and literature sets. A variety of reading strategies will be emphasized to improve reading comprehension. Students will be required to read at least 3 to 5 books (that met certain requirements) each quarter. Students will improve their writing skills by doing a variety of writing assignments including journal writing, paragraph writing, essay writing, poetry, and short stories. The class will address the Missouri Department of Education's Grade Level Expectations and help prepare students for the state testing.
