Course Description: Physical Science is the study of matter, energy, and the changes they undergo. Physical Science is divided into two main areas: chemistry and physics. Chemistry is the study of the properties of matter and how matter changes. Physics is the study of matter and energy and how they interact.
Course Goals: Develop scientifically literate citizens that are aware that science, mathematics, and technology are interdependent enterprises with strengths and limitations; a knowledge of Physical Science is important because all human activities are related to interactions involving physical science; our planet, environmental, economic concerns and natural phenomena are important in our daily lives as society develops. Students will be able to apply mathematical and Physical Science concepts; identify, analyze, and evaluate utilization of a variety of natural resources, identify historical changes, natural and man-made, that have developed the current face of the Earth and its inhabitants; use the laws and principles of physical science in real life exercises and experiences.
