8th Grade Health Topics

·      Chapter 1- Health and Wellness

·      Chapter 17- Infectious Diseases

·      Chapter 18- Noninfectious Diseases

·      Chapter 5- Your Body Systems

·      CPR

We will also have guest speakers that will discuss the following issues: body image/self-esteem, STD’s (notes giving permission to watch will go home around a week in advance before presentation), nutrition, and drugs.  There may be additional speakers talking about additional topics as we progress throughout the year.

 

 

Expectations:

 

·      Students will respect themselves, others, as well as school property.

 

·      Students will come to class each day prepared to work.

 

·      Students will follow directions the first time asked.

 

·      Students will be in their assigned seat ready to work when the tardy bell rings.

 

·      When students are absent, it is the students’ responsibility to make up any missing work and/or tests.

 

·      Students will complete assignments on time.

 

·      Students will respect and work well together when working in groups.

 

 

Grades:

 

·      Students will receive a grade based on participation (involving being actively engaged in the class on a daily basis), quizzes, tests, group work, and projects.

 

 

Miscellaneous:

 

·      Students and parents need to realize that students need to keep up with their health grade on a regular basis to help prevent grades from getting to a point in which students are unable to get a passing/desired grade!
