Welcome to fifth grade!

Fifth graders have moved into a new realm of education, a world rich with new ideas and facts. To succeed at this higher level of thinking and understanding requires an active learner. This is what I want my fifth graders to become. They will write, research, read, discuss, design, plan, present, interpret, teach and much more as they progress through the school year.

Communication between me, you and your child is essential for a successful school year. If at anytime throughout the year you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to call or email me at dkitchen@waynesville.k12.mo.us. I know we can work together, as a team, to make this a wonderful school year.

Children are our most precious gift and I feel honored to have the opportunity to be your child's teacher.

Be sure to attend "Meet the Teacher" on Wednesday, August 17th from 4-6pm. You may bring your school supplies this evening or with you on Thursday. I am looking forward to meeting you!
