East Elementary K-2

Welcome to my page! I am Mrs. May and I am excited to be one of two art teachers at East Elementary. This is my eighth year as an Art teacher and my eighteenth year teaching. I am certified to teach Elementary Education grades 1-8 and Art grades K-9.  I love teaching Art at East and working with the most talented and creative students. This year we will go over the Elements of Art: Lines, Shape, Color, Space,Texture, Form and Value. We will use various techniques to create paintings, shape clay, manipulate paper and use our imaginations to make unique art. I am looking forward to seeing amazing art as we set out on our journey this year. Please feel free to stop by and see the wonderful art hanging in the hallways.

Kindergarten Objectives:  Produce a line (PP1AK)

Create a design using lines (PP3AK)

Use the eight basic colors (EP1EK)

Use eight four basic shapes-square, circle, triangle & rectangle (EP1BK)

Create an A/B pattern (EP2DK)

Create a simple print (PPC1K)

Create an alternating pattern (EP2D1)

Create a project using form (EP1C1)

Use Value (EP1F1)

Second Grade Objectives:  Produce and use various types of lines (EP1A2)

Mix two primary colors to create secondary colors (PP1B2)

Use foreground and background in a project (EP1G2)

Make a simple weaving (PP1E2)

Create a complex pattern (EP2D2)

Create a project manipulating paper (curl, fold,cut) PP2A2)

Use light and dark values (EP1F2)
