Missouri Option Program
Missouri Option is a cross-curricular DESE program designed to target seniors who have the capabilities of achieving State of Missouri High School Graduation requirements but for a variety of reasons lack the credits/courses needed to graduate with their cohort class. It is a non-credit accrual, alternative means to graduating with a Waynesville High School diploma.
The State Assurances for this program specifically require student participants to be at least 17 years of age and chronologically scheduled to graduate in the current school year, yet---for significant reasons identified by the district Missouri Option Program plan---not able to do so through the traditional high school program.
The Program's curriculum includes American & Missouri Government, Essay Writing, and other core subjects as required by its standardized testing component. Students must participate in such classroom instruction for 1/2 of the day as well as a Waynesville Career Center vocational program, or approved work internship, for the balance of their school day.
Participation is voluntary and must be coordinated through the Waynesville High School Guidance Office.
