Guidance and Counseling
Guidance and counseling services are available to all students and is an integral part of each school's total educational program.
Because of the strong classroom component, this program addresses the needs of all students by helping them to acquire competencies in career planning and exploration, knowledge of self and others, and educational and vocational development. Services for at-risk students are also available and encouraged.
The District Guidance Program also utilizes the Missouri Comprehensive Model Guidance system of guidance service delivery, which we helped to develop as an original pilot district. We still have a seat on the State Model Guidance Advisory Council to assist in further development of this model.
The District program has been aligned to the objectives of the Comprehensive School Improvement Plan (CSIP) and student performance data outcomes (Adopted July 2001). The program is developmental and includes sequential activities organized and implemented by certificated school counselors. These counselors work in collaboration with teachers, administrators, students and parents.
