At a recent Waynesville R-VI Board of Education meeting Mr. Scott Keith, director of Instructional Media and Technology Services provided a review of the district's library and technology programs. The review highlighted some of the accomplishments of the department during the past year. Mr. Keith also recognized Amy Buettner and Kathy Gan, two kindergarten teachers at Thayer Elementary for their high level of technology infused instruction.

According to the two teachers, "Our goal is to use technology in all subject areas. We want each student to understand and use various forms of technology which include; iPads, SmartBoards, Document Cameras, Digital Cameras, Flip Videos, Computers, Audio System etc. As students use technology their attention span is longer and they are an active participant in all lessons. We have found thatstudents engaged in technology have fun learning and retain the information faster than
paper and pencil (worksheets). It's amazing how fast kindergarten students learn how to use this technology."

Mr. Mark Parker, Thayer Elementary principal stated, "Our teachers at Thayer do a fantastic job using technology in their daily lessons with students. Mrs. Gan and Ms. Buettner are two of these teachers. It is amazing how quickly students of all ages learn when you use cutting edge technology in the classroom during instruction.
